UConn Digital Media & Design 2023 MFA Exhibition Posters
The title "Breadcrumb Journeys" gave me the initial idea of someone following a trail with a magnifying glass, and I decided to make this the unifying motif between my three posters. I chose to have one poster advertise both of the projects, and the other two would focus on Here There Be Bears and SnackPal individually. I created the “Breadcrumb Journeys” title by drawing golden spots to emulate the look of breadcrumbs, and in the poster featuring both projects, the trails are the same color to emulate a trail of breadcrumbs. I decided to put the exhibit’s location on the magnifying glass frame because the Benton Museum of Art is the magnifying glass that allows us to follow this trail of breadcrumbs. For the Here There Be Bears poster, I used the titular animal of the bear to characterize it, putting the creator’s name and the project title inside two bear prints. I also added claw marks to the magnifying glass, which aside from the face-value reference to bears, was also intended to reference the game’s themes of PTSD and trauma. For the SnackPal poster, I decided to make the background red since the app helps people with diabetes regulate their blood sugar level. I decided to animate the Here There Be Bears poster because I thought I could create a dramatic sequence, with the bear prints coming down dramatically and leaving the marks in the handle of the magnifying glass.
